Shop's History

Nanny's Place is dedicated in memory of our Mother

Gail Wolff
(aka "Nanny";
3/28/44 - 1/17/08

From Pam Wolff -

My mother was one of the most loving, happy, non-judgmental people anyone could ever want to be a part of their lives.

When she went on to the other side for a better life, she left behind her husband, four children, five grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.

She had a lot of health problems for the last 25 years or so, but she never let it get her down. Her motto was "keep on keeping on." What choice do you have?

She was, without a doubt, my best friend in this life. Losing her has made me want to, even more than ever, carry on her memories, her thoughts, her wisdom and her everyday dreams that she had for herself and her family.

She had been after me for years to open my own place to market my ideas. I just could never bring myself to do it. Taking that chance and leaving my comfort zone was too tough.

Then in early 2007, I told her that I had finally decided to do it and that I wanted her to help me with it. She wanted to know what she could possibly do to help. I told her that sitting at the front counter and greeting and talking to the customers would be the greatest thing she could ever do. One short visit with Mama and they would certainly have to keep coming back to see her.

To my great sadness, before I could get it altogether to open, Mama became very ill and was unable to fight it this time. She passed away on January 17, 2008.

At that point, there was no way I could continue on with the plan to open the store after losing the one who had not only encouraged me to do it but had been my main inspiration all along. However, my sister, Angie, convinced me that Mama would have wanted me to see the idea through to completion.

So, with a name change, careful planning, Angie's partnership and the rest of my family helping, we opened the doors to the original "Nanny's Place" on March 28, 2008 -- which is Mama's birthday!

Now we have moved Nanny's Place to a brand new location in Macon.

With all my love to you, Mama,
Pam Wolff (Daughter & Owner)

From Angie Wolff -

My mother was MY Best Friend. She raised me to be honest, good hearted, helpful and to always stand behind my word. She always saw the GOOD in people and was willing to help anyway she could. Her attitude was always to help out anybody that you could because you never know when you may need help yourself. She always said that there are "angels" that walk among us every day. One of the things that I will always remember that she taught me was to never judge a book by its cover because, until you open it up, you don't know what's inside.

Every day was a learning experience with my Mama, not like what you learned in school, but the real life lessons that we all need to have to grow and and be productive people on this earth. Some of the things that she taught me were things like: Truth and Communication are the two most important things in "any" relationship. Whether it's personal or business "ALWAYS" say what you mean and mean what you say. Never have pity parties because chances are nobody would come anyway.

Mama always had a smile on her face, and she enjoyed life no matter what it threw at her, and she taught me to do the same. She always had time to stop and listen and would always find a way to make you feel better.

I will always miss her and all the wisdom that she had to share.

With all my love to you, Mama,
Angie Wolff (Daughter and Owner)
